You know that...

In addition to the classic meaning of peace linked to Catholic culture, the olive tree has also been the "protagonist" of some stories of Greek mythology: in fact, the olive tree was the reason for competition between Athena and Poseidon, both sons of Zeus.

The two wanted to give their name to the Capital of Attica so they came into conflict by proposing a challenge: whoever of the two would give the most useful gift to the city would win the challenge and could give it their name. Poseidon offered a majestic and wonderful horse while Athena donated an olive tree, winning the challenge. For this reason it is said that the city took the name of Athenai, or modern Athens. To celebrate this fact a great party was held with games, games and music and the winners were awarded with vials of olive oil and crowned with crowns of olive branches.
